 2023 Preview 


       Cottage Hill Christian completed the 2022 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Cottage Hill Christian finished sixth in Class 3A region one with a 3-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Warriors had some tough luck last season as three of their five losses were by less than eight points.

       Since 2010, Cottage Hill Christian has gone a combined 52-78. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 3A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 22 seasons, Cottage Hill Christian has managed to compile a record of 87-132. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 3A and 287th in the AHSAA.




       The Warriors will be under the direction of new head football coach Carvel Jones as they enter the 2023 season.  Coach Jones will take over the Warriors program after serving as the defensive coordinator for the 2022 season.

       The Warriors could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Cottage Hill Christian has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2019 but hope to return to the post season this year.

      The defense will be led by Ben Conken this season after collecting 91 total tackles last season.

       The Warriors open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Escambia County on Friday, August 25 at Kingdom Stadium. Last year the Escambia County Blue Devils finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 4A region one. The Blue Devils closed out the regular season with a loss to Northview FL by a score of 57-14.

       Cottage Hill Christian and Escambia County have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 0-2-0 record against the Blue Devils. They last met in 2022 with Escambia County winning by a score of 21-14.

       Cottage Hill Christian lost 3A All-State  defensive lineman Trent Thomas to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating were teammates athlete Kelvon McBride and defensive lineman Tyler Thomas.

The Tuscaloosa Black Bears were considered one of the best programs in the nation from 1925-1931. Their record over that span was an amazing 61-0-3.
